Today, our MP, Alok Sharma formally submitted his objection to the latest Pincents Hill planning application.
In his letter to West Berkshire Council, Alok said:
"Pincents Hill is a green space, which continues to be highly valued by local residents for leisure purposes and helps maintain the separate identities of Theale, Calcot and Tilehurst.
The site is also adjacent to a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and any development of this site will have a negative impact on the landscape of this protected area.
Additionally, Pincents Hill provides a home for a variety of flora and fauna including badgers, bats and deer. A development of the size proposed would have a major negative impact on the wildlife with the loss of this important habitat.
Finally I should add that, not only have past applications on this site been rejected, but the Pincents Hill site is not included in West Berkshire Council’s Housing Site Allocations Development Plan Document which itself was extensively consulted on."
Alok's letter is just one of many objections submitted by local residents and we wait in anticipation for the application to finally go to the Eastern Area Planning Committee for decision.
